it seems to be working just as we expected. aeol was evidently surprised that my calculations were correct, for he was much too intimate with the blackbird and had to be bodily drawn from it on two occasions. i understand the malice the blade holds, but cannot fathom the cause. i do not think he will wield anguirel long.

i had not realized the bond that aeol has forged with the gold dust woman. if it were not for him, she/it would never be entrusted with a blackbird. certainly not through my action. all the men covet her flesh; indeed, only aeol can work if she is in the room. and he works better when she is present.

hal is intolerable! he would not leave us alone. questions, answers, more questions and even offers of assistance. i can tell he does not understand the feedings of the blackbirds, but since he helped arrange it, he must be served. but i like this less than anglachel. at least the gold dust woman controls her weapon. hal's is like a napalm grenade waiting for the pin to be released.
one of the serioli cut himself on the edge of the blade, and was consumed while we watched. he was the only serioli in the room at the time, and he doesn't seem to be missed. we threw him into the volcano that night. lifesbane is perhaps the least clean of all the weapons so far. it was hungry when we bonded the blackbird to the sword's ego. i wish i had understood what a blackbird will do in this cage.

mola ran was amusing. he didn't want to be around the blackbird until after it was bound to his blade. i felt he had a spell underway while the attunement was proceeding. but it was not so blatant that i could determine what it was. probably a petty protection. sad, that he could be so deluded.
later
it was a find familiar. i hope it worked as he intended. study this.
later
mola ran appears happy. the sword, also.

she was here because of sozuo, not because she wants the blackbird for herself. sozuo wants to study it. ha. hope he does better than muad'dib.
the bonding worked smoothly. perhaps it is because the bonding began on zeepsday. perhaps we are simply gaining prowess at such things.
i pity the pellinese who cross aliera's path

i don't like this.
the bonding went so smoothly it was like skating on wet ice. sethra smiled the whole time. i doubt even the binder himself could separate the blackbird from iceflame and dzur mountain, and the place of power.
can sethra again ever be born again without being consumed?can sethra ever be born again elsewhere? i bet sethra knows the answers; she has had more time in dzur mountain studying its ways than i have had at gorias.
and she smiled the whole time.
it will be a cold death, that which she gives with iceflame.

unpleasant.
we had to tell the eternal champion what to do in the merging stages, when the blackbird flew to its home, for none of us could touch its cage. it seemed that this weapon already knew and greeted the blackbird as it perched inside. i think the blackbird itself closed the door, but i was across the room and couldn't be sure.

the blackbird again perched willingly, waiting for the door to close. priests will hold their breath on every plane each time this blade leaves its sheathe, and rejoice when it returns home, even if a friend has fallen to it.

an unusual great weapon. Sekkar still lives within the sword. perhaps it will come to terms with the new tenant rather than become birdseed. i hope it is not my father's deity.

kannon is fascinating, regardless of the stories sozuo tells. the gall of making a birdcage of living wood! i believe the name means "bladed infamy." the covens are already terrified. born again takes on a new, hopeful, quality; in the face of harenchi, the blackbird may eat its children.

the emperor's blade was simple. the green ego was consumed and the blackbird perched surely and enjoyed its first supper while we watched. i think the blackbird may be able to shoot the beame, but i said nothing to necrodemus. he's the reason we had to cage the blackbirds in this forsaken primordial jungle.

i wanted to be certain that there were no surprises before i made wyrmbane into a cage for my blackbird, but the advantages of making a winter blade seem to outweightr the advantage of waiting further. lhal says the statue of klinurte may not be inthe lake for all nineteen veils to be used., so there is no reason to wait and attempt a twentieth weapon.
the winter man has distanced the muse further, and so since halfway through widowmaker's time the blades have been curiously affected, almost eager to become cages. i hope this really turns out to be an advantage. hal should be right, and i don't liuke sozuo anyway.
the wyrm slaying capability of the weapon seems to be taking a rather drastic effect: rather like slaying of the serioli, i imagine that an Iahklu may fall to the new wyrmbane instantly upon a cut which draws blood!
the great weapon status [of wyrmbane the greater] may interfere with wyrmbane the lesser but i cannot believe the other will sympathetically spawn a blackbird's appetite or hunger. or its choice of cuisine.
zeepsday passed and my blade also failed to become active. pathfinder and the next blade after mine, if it works ouyt, shall become the only blackbirds capable of feasting on zeepsday, unless there is time for more than twenty. Hal says the likelihood decreases with time.
friday the thirteenth came and went. does this bode ill? [added later:] for my enemies!

this is the reason i made the blackbirds! this is the reasons i trained the blackbirds; this is the reason i feared their creation! [the next sentence has a strike through it. -ed] this is the blade to which even i may fall. i hope michael donn doesn't realize the power he holds over me. i am quite certain aeol and i now knowe more about this blade's function and willforce than michael does
i got the impression that shadowdancer had a raven within it and this raven . . . permitted . . . my blackbird to live within the same cage and share its meals. a fitting blade for a double zeepsday weapon! shadowdancer doesn't need a veil to appear in all dominions.
will work on zeepsday!!

another of these blacker-than-night blades and i quit. i can't see the edge, and i nearly cut myself. i cannot let aeol know the protections i am placing upon the blades, and that would have tipped him off. i tread a fine line.
making a cage for a stone brother to hold was enlightening. now i may be abvle to make the rest of the blackbirds able to feed on stone brothers, or at least huldrafolk.

vec was nearly the trial that sethra was. at least he didn't smile. kas was so sweet; he didn't know what he was doing, but he followed vec's orders like a loving dog that no longer needs a leash. we began calling the lich 'naq' like kas did, although i imagine the gold dust woman would not have done so had she realized it was an honorific in the language of the southren barbarians.
it was strange placing a blackbird in a cage of flux. afterwards it almost seemed as if the blackbird stretched the boundaries of the cage so that it could spread its wings without flying away.

'sweetly, oh, swiftly doth the arrow fly.'
a minor coup, yes. the arrow that needeth no bow. i loathe to be in the area when tha arrow hungers and flies free. well, not i, but i hope that none of my friends become compatriots of michael donn and the coven angel. fifty-five percent alteration is awesome without the coven angel's skill behind the flight. i hope michael keeps him on the short leash.

vlad friend of my father, why do thou seekest the blackbird? Blood of Blood, do you not know what you do? can you not see the knowledge you give your blackbird? when it will not feed or fly due to higher knowedge, let us hope you are not in mortal danger of your life. friend of my father, be safe and rest at home.

finally met my brother. what a cutout of a man. at least grew to revel in the powers my father set afront of me. this man who may be the prize of remo cannot even dredge up the will to choose his dinner from a menu without someone recommending something. this blackbird will always feed when it hungers, i see. ah, severian!
